What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is an established and recognised system of diagnosis and treatment, which lays its main emphasis on the structural and functional integrity of the body.

It is distinctive by the fact that it recognises that much of the pain and disability from which we suffer stems from abnormalities in the function of the body structure as well as damage caused to it by disease'

An osteopath uses many of the diagnostic procedures common to conventional medical assessment and diagnosis. Osteopaths are trained to use their hands and highly developed sense of touch to assist in diagnosis and also to provide treatment. Every individual is assessed from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint. Physical treatment, if appropriate, is applied to suit the needs of each individual patient.
